CORFU. Members of the crew working at Lefkimmi landfill have reported that they were attacked three times at 16:30 on Tuesday including having stones thrown at them.

According to their reports, the first attack against them took place on the road connecting the landfill to the main Lefkimmi road. They returned to the landfill and then left again, with a police escort. The police car left them near Argyrades and they were then chased by a private car which drove in a threatening manner and when they got to the tunnel passing under a hotel stones were thrown at them damaging their car.

Fortunately, there were no further incidents and no injuries were reported - just damage to the cars that the crew members were driving in. There were three workers in the car that suffered the most damage.

The repair work at the landfill has been completed and the contractor is now carrying out the final tests. The contractor reported the incident to the police, who are investigating the matter.
