Ionian Islands Region to take responsibility for Integrated Waste Management in Paxos

CORFU. Construction of a transfer centre and processing unit and establishment of Green Spots.

The Ionian Islands Regional Administration will be taking responsibility for the Municipality of Paxos Integrated Solid Waste Management. The decision was taken at a meeting yesterday between the Regional Governor Theodoros Galiatsatos and Paxos Mayor Spyros Vlachopoulos.

It was decided that Paxos Municipality would hand over responsibility to the Regional Administration for three projects, two of which are for solid waste management (creation of Green Spots and transfer centre) and the third for the construction of a rural road network in Antipaxos.

The projects:

- Integrated Urban Solid Waste Management in the Municipality of Paxos - Budget 1,637,331 Euros.
Construction of waste transfer centre, processing unit for pre-sorted bio-waste and mixed urban solid waste and purchase of equipment for sorting bio-waste at source.

- Creation of Green Spots and Recycling Centres in the Municipality of Paxos - Budget 373,414 Euros.

Setting up Green Spots, recycling centres and promotion to raise awareness.

- Construction of rural road network in Antipaxos - Budget 441,000 Euros.


Ionian Islands Regional Administration will be responsible for inviting tenders for the above projects.
