School festival ‘What if it was you?’

CORFU. Organized by the Hellenic Theatre in Education Network in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
130 pupils from one Nursery School, two Primary Schools and four High Schools in Corfu are presenting a theatrical happening about the historical presence of refugees in Corfu during the 20th century.
The Hellenic Theatre in Education Network in collaboration with UNHCR is organizing a Theatrical Festival – Day of Action on Friday 27th April at 11:30 in Annunciata Square (Evg. Voulgareos pedestrian precinct) in Corfu.
Pupils, assisted by their teachers and the drama teachers from the ‘What if it was you?’ project, utilized theatre-documentary and educational drama techniques to create theatrical happenings based on documents (from their own research) as well as texts about diversity, cultural differences, human rights and acceptance.
This is the fourth year that Hellenic Theatre in Education Network and UNHCR for Greek refugees are organizing the ‘What if it was you?’ project. It is a project to raise awareness about human rights and refugee issues through workshop activities and theatrical and educational drama techniques. It is approved by the Ministry of Education and certified by IDEA (International Drama and Theatre Education Association).
