CORFU. By 11 o΄clock on Easter Sunday morning the Resurrection Procession with Saint Spyridon is over.
When the two bands pass Liston the Easter events in Corfu Town come to an end - the celebrations continue in the countryside around the island.
Whilst on Good Friday and Easter Saturday the crowds and the bustle to an extent diminish the religious feeling and solemnity of the occasion, on Easter Sunday morning it is different. The first Resurrection procession starts just as the town is waking up and it is a joy to come across small processions with a few dozen followers.
In contrast to Liston 30 or 40 years ago, there are more than a few people already waiting at 9 o'clock in the morning for the final processions and that of Saint Spyridon.
