Autumn Sales start today

During that period it is optional for shops to open on Sunday 5 November, but if they do, the legal opening hours on that day are 11.00-20.00. In Corfu 5 November is the date of the ‘Protokyriako’ celebration and the local Trading Association has recommended that shops remain closed.
During the sales period, as well as advertising both the old and new prices of goods and services, it is also allowed to advertise the discount percentage. If it is found that the sales advertised are inaccurate or misleading – the discount percentage, the price or the quantity - or that the consumer has been misled in any way, then a fine can be imposed which is 1% of the business’ annual turnover (with a minimum of 10,000 Euros). If the business is convicted for a second time for the same offence within 5 years, then the fine is increased to 3%.
